Attend Annual Meeting of Wood Science Branch

ICWC 2007 led some of their delegates attending the 11th Symposium on Wood Science Research and Effective Utilization of Wood Science Branch, China Society of Forestry. Mr.Howard N.Rosen, Ms.Victoria L.Herian and Mr.Takao Itoh gave presentations as keynote speakers during the meeting. Some of other guests made presentations and joined discussions in group sessions.

Tour to Dali Ancient Town and XiZhou, Yunnan,China

Ancient Town of Dali was first built in 1683, featuring traditional Bai Nationality House,stone walls, grey-tiled roofs, doors and windows carved with dragon and phoenix patterns, and gardens of varying sizes. The entire city is covered by a maze of streams, fed by runoffs from the Cangshan Mountain.

The Naxi minority were the descentants of Qiang tribe. During the ancient times, the worship of heaven was the grandest eligious ceremony for many important announcement would be made publicly. Other ethnic groups were forbidden to attend or watch the ceremony.

The Old Town of Lijiang

This town was built about 800 years ago during the Southern Song Dynasty. Owing to it's unique ethnic culture and urban layout, the old town was enlisted to be one of World Cultural Heritage in 1997. You can find beautiful cobbles stone path across the narrow streets. Most of the Naxi's houses were errected along the fast flowing streams.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is situated north of LiJiang Old Town. The highest point in the mountain reaches a height of 5596 meters. This prominent wonder is made up of thirteen peaks. There are cable cars available in this resort that will bring you to a height of 4506 meters above sea level.
