Conclusion of ICWC 2007 |
- "Wood is Good!" Wood, being a natural eco-friendly and renewable material, has greatly contributed to human civilization and well-being of mankind. We should respect and be thankful to nature when utilizing wood in our daily lives.
- Culture consists of lifestyles and values that are shared. We should pull experts together from different fields to study and promote the concept of "Wood is Good!" (such as the beauty and strength of wood, the benefits of wood to ecology and the environment, and the historical and social aspects of wood, etc ) from a cultural perspective. Our daily lives could be enriched by better understanding and sharing the advantages and diverse uses of wood in different cultures.
- Wood culture could have industrial implications, which may compliment the products of other industries such as tourism, relic conservation, architecture, landscape, art and design, furniture, and tea culture to create new markets for consumers.
- We wil use the motto "Green is Good!" to build a new website to serve as a database and business-to-consumer platform for wood culture industries, to promote the products and services for "Wood is Good!"
- We will transfer knowledge and values of wood culture by constructing a comprehensive wood culture educational program. In addition to preparing and welcoming qualified wood major students into the job markets, this program will build appreciation and knowledge of wood for students starting as early as grade school.
- We will form a non-profit organization called" International Wood Culture Society (IWCS)" for the purpose of research, education, protection and promotion of wood culture. IWCS will cordially welcome members and sponsorship/funding.
- IWCS will sponser an international journal on wood culture and organize the annual ICWC and regional wood culture meetings, participate in other wood-related conferences, exhibitions and activities, and also use media to promote all these events to the general public.
- ICWC should extend invitations to government officials and business people to incorporate the development and benefits of wood culture in business decision-making and government policies.
- Wood culture, realizing wood from a cultural perspective, improves people's relationship with nature and opens new ways to understand wood. We should continue our wood traditions with creative new ideas for our everyday needs and work together to create a good environment for the healthy development of wood culture.
